The Haves The Have Nots and Dogs

There’s an excellent article in today’s Washington Post by Ellen Knickmeyer,about some of her experiences in Iraq as a foreign correspondent.‘The Haves,the Have Nots and Dogs’ is a breathing living critique of American imperialism by someone living on its cutting edge.A critique that feels like the work of a first rate writer,even though Knickmeyer probably has no pretences about being one.
I’m convinced some of the best writing,the writing that will become literature,is being written by journalists who are trying to tell us whats really happening out there,as it happens.
What passes for literature elsewhere is just the same tired old shit.
